The pumping station in Flémalle was selected in the city’s Lighting Plan carried out in 2013 by Radiance35 as a «blue landmark» in a distant vision.
This category of elements was chosen to highlight the area’s water-related history and topography, and to create visible landmarks from one side of the Mosane valley to the other.
The concept is based on 3 main lines:
- A graphic illumination of the volumes, highlighting the horizontal lines that are representative of the architecture (cornices and canopy)
- A graphic illumination of the bays, highlighting their vertical dimension (splayings)
- Lighting of the tower from the inside: white for the body and bluish for the top.
